Cozumel Island is one of the most popular diving spots in the world. The island provides easy access to a large number of dive sites where you can see numerous steels of colorful fish and other marine life. Cozumel Island is located near several beautiful reefs and at the same time to the Yucatan Peninsula - only 20 km. The island will be interesting for divers of different skill levels. Cozumel Island is 45 km long and only 16 km wide, is considered the best Mexican island, largely due to diving. Despite its popularity, the island is very calm. One of the most popular dive sites near Cozumel is the Palancar Reef. This is a great place for novice divers, here you can gain experience and enjoy the beauty of nature. Large clusters of corals that stretch for 5.5 km, neighbor orange and purple sea sponges and colorful fish. The calm ocean currents provide excellent opportunities for underwater photography.
Also near the island is the Columbia Reef (depth up to 27 m). It has countless caves and tunnels and is home to sea turtles, eagle rays, barracudas and many other marine creatures swimming around the huge coral pillars that make this dive site so impressive. Near the island is also the Santa Rosa Reef (depth from 15 m). This is an excellent deep dive site, popular with divers who want to get certified and simply a great place for day and night diving. Another reef near Cozumel is Punta Tunich, it is famous for its fast currents and long coral ridges. Here divers can see gorgonian corals, numerous sponges, reef groupers and much more.
