The Mako shark is the fastest shark in the ocean. Its weight is from 65 to 360 kg. Length is from 1.8 m to 3.7 m. An encounter with a Mako shark can last from 15 minutes to 3 hours. The cage is a solid structure made of aluminum pipes. It floats on the surface or at a depth of 0.9 - 1.2 m under water, depending on weather conditions. At the same time, 2-3 people can be in the cage, changing every half hour: you can get inside the cage through a hinged door at the top of the structure; air is supplied through hoses connected to tanks on board the vessel. An open viewing area of the cage 0.6 m, conveniently located at shoulder level, provides a 360-degree view. For beginner divers, these open areas can be closed using Lexan windows.
Group excursions on Tuesdays and Fridays
The day begins with a briefing on board the boat at 8:00, which will prepare you for diving in a mako shark cage. We return to the pier at 17:00.
The dive site can be 1-2 hours from the shore.
Along the way you can see dolphins, mahi-mahi, sea turtles and even sailfish.
The cage is set up in the water, and the real adventure begins!
The baiting of the sharks begins. For this, a pre-prepared bait made of fish meal is used, which slowly floats in the water, attracting sharks to the boat and to the cage. This process can take from 10 minutes to several hours.
As with all such tours, everything depends on the mercy of nature.
While waiting for the Mako sharks to appear, all guests can practice being in the cage, practice techniques, and make sure their photo and video equipment is in order
Observing from above can be just as exciting as from the cage. Guests can use Go-pro equipment on a tripod or in their hands.
