You'll see the Pyramid of the Feathered Serpent, a temple of warriors, a ball court, and an ancient observatory. After lunch, transfer to Izamal. Lunch at the Kinich Izamal restaurant. Visit to the Franciscan monastery and walk around the city. Accommodation at a hacienda in Merida. Here you will learn about the history of Mexican haciendas, about the cultivation of henequen, visit the main building of the hacienda, and ride through the fields on a mule-drawn cart. Traditional rustic Mexican dinner at the hacienda.
Day 2: Merida - Uxmal - Caba - Merida
Transfer to Uxmal. Tour of Uxmal. It is considered one of the most beautiful ancient cities in Mexico from an aesthetic and architectural point of view. The second largest pyramid in Yucatan is located here - the Pyramid of the Wizard. After Uxmal, we will visit another ancient city in the Yucatan - Caba. The greatest historical value in Kaba is the Palace of Masks, the facade of which is decorated with many masks of the rain god Chak. Great interest in this structure is caused by its unusual front part, which is covered with stone masks of the god Chaka, using the technique of mass repetition of the element. After Kaba we will visit the large and mystical caves of Kalquetki. You will visit the ceremonial hall, where you will see incredible limestone formations and learn the legends associated with this place.
Return to Merida around 17:00. Evening tour of Merida. In Merida you will visit an ancient cathedral, which is more than three hundred years old and which is the first Catholic cathedral built on the American mainland. Next, you'll visit the Palacio del Gobierno, where you'll see stunning wall paintings that tell the story of the struggle between the Spanish conquerors and the Mayan people. Dinner in one of the traditional restaurants and tasting of Yucatecan cuisine.
Day 3: Merida - Coba - Tulum - Cancun
Early in the morning departure from Merida towards Coba. Excursion to Kobe - an ancient city lost in the jungle. Coba is one of the oldest cities of the Mayan civilization. We will travel around its vast territory in bicycle rickshaws. Koba was an important political, commercial and religious center. Here you will see the very stone on which the date 12/21/2012 is carved, foreshadowing the “end of the world”, the “sak be” roads, the grounds for the sacred ball game and the highest pyramid of the Yucatan Peninsula - “Nohoch Mul”, which you can climb. Coba is about an hour's drive west of Tulum. On the way we will pass several Indian villages, where you can buy souvenirs (there will be a large ceramics store). After Coba, visit the Grand Cenote, where you can swim. Excursion to the ancient port city of Tulum. Departure to Cancun. Arrival in Kanun around 19:00.
